Central Otago's big bird is flying high

If pinot noir is as fond of its home as they say, then the great red grape of Burgundy has found another place to call its own down here at the bottom of the world – quite literally at the bottom if you're talking about the rocky, unforgiving landscape gouged by rivers and dominated for most of the year by snow-capped mountains in New Zealand's Deep South.
We call it Central Otago. Pinotphiles call it one of the great pinot-producing regions in the world…….
